Why are all your hot seat picks coaches for teams that are bottom 5 in PDO?

It's kind of remarkable at how the Rangers and Oilers both looked like really good teams at the end of last season and in the playoffs and now they both looks so much worse.

I think the Rangers are just a flawed team and a new coach won't really turn them back into contenders. It may break up the malaise a bit. The Oilers on the other hand seem more likely to improve with a new coach.

Funny because Shattenkirk is probably one of the key reasons for their struggles haha. Guy is great on the PP, but I don't want to see him in my teams dzone ever again!

Shatty is one of the most overrated players in the league.

He was completely exposed last year on a stacked Washington team.

I was a fan Shatty signing with a team in the Metro, as this would only help the Flyers.

He has been paying dividends so far this season.

Yeah definitely should fire the coach for the team with the top 5v5 CF% and xGF%. A new coach will definitely change their PDO so they are no longer 3rd worst in the league...

As an Oilers fan that is indeed starved for success, I would rather they miss the playoffs than fire McLellan. It would be far more frustrating to have the team learn yet ANOTHER system! How many bloody coaches have they had over the last decade?? Stick with it. They will turn it around.

There is one BIG issue of the Rangers fire AV!!! Who is better than him to replace him? I count NOBODY!!!!! There is nobody out there better than AV to replace him not even just for some change.

Oh I know. That was dumb then just like these ideas are dumb now. I'm not a huge AV fan but I suggested before the season the NYR could see their sh% regress and that could cause them to miss the playoffs. A couple weeks into the season and they are shooting 2% lower than last season. What a shocker.

Yeah exactly. Currently they are suffering from a low PDO. They have new faces in new roles. Give it time and I'm sure they are battling for a playoff spot come the last 2 weeks of the season.

Using logic. Why would you fire Todd McLellan?

IF it comes down to bad blood between Todd and McJesus who do you think is getting shown the door? Todd worked his way off a pretty darn good Sharks team also. Which is not to say he's not a good coach but people can wear out their welcome in a bunch of ways.

No, I was saying the Rangers can hire him after he gets fired by Edmonton. Try to keep up.

This is his 3rd season in EDM...

The idea of bad blood is a media story.

It took him 7 seasons and finally missing the playoffs for SJ to let him go...

Again please apply some logic.

Because clearly the Rangers and Oilers are working on a secret coaches trade similar to the Torts for AV exchange pulled off by NY and Vancouver.

I doubt Maclellan is on the hot seat in edmonton just yet. I think edmonton's problems lies in personnell issues.

Last year the top three players driving offense (according to this article by David Staples http://edmontonjournal.co...-passengers-on-the-attack) for Edmonton were McDavid, Draisalt and Eberle. With Eberle gone and Draisalt injured that leaves only McDavid. After the playoffs teams have learned how to reduce McDavids impact at times. The oilers needs another player to drive offense and preferrably that player needs to be a RW, given the lack of depth at that position right now.

The oilers defense even last year while not great was ok, and was really lucky in the unjury department. This year Sekera is injured, and no upgrades were made during the off season.

I highly recommend not reading anything from Staples as he is a babbling moron.

EDM is currently the best team at 5v5 in the league right now. They are just extremely unlucky by having the 2nd worst 5v5 sh% in the league. MTL is the worst. I know people hate the idea of luck but random variance is a thing.
